for everyone

Welcome to

P I C T U R E   P E R F E C T

The theme this week is:

'R E D'

Photobucket

The name of the diner and dairy is the Speed Trap Diner and xtreme creme ice cream. It stirred up alot of voices when it first was set up, but now all is well. See, the town I live in, for most of you, who have read many of mine, know we are known for many things, but one that I have not yet posted about is the need for catching speeders going through our little town.

BEWARE: THE POLICE ARE ON RED ALERT WATHCING FOR ALL OUT-OF-TOWNERS.

Many friends and acquaintances of mine, when I say where I live say, "Oh yes, I went thru that town one time... I got a ticket for speeding." Including one of my doctors. LOL. Hence the name Speed Trap Diner. It is nestled at the edge of town where the speed limit goes from 50 to 25 mph. Just for FYI purposes, here is a photo of the Diner itslef...There is an old DeSoto on top of the building over looking the town and the Diner. If you look close you can see where I got the photo of the red stop sign off the side of the building...Photobucket

The theme of the week will be posted on THURSDAY. Cutoff for posting the link to your entry is midnight on FRIDAY.

What a great photo and I love the sign. A diner by that name could fly in a lot of places I have traveled through.

I remember the days when getting off the Interstate into almost any small town was almost a guarantee for someone from out of the area to get a speeding ticket. Heck, in Georgia once I had to pay the cop on the spot(dumb Canadian, wonder if I got taken?).

Only thing is, we live on the highway!! We live on US20, which runs the length of the United States, but when it runs through towns instead of around towns by way of bypasses, you end up in little towns of ours.. It is a big $$ maker for small towns...

Wonderful pic! *snickers* Serves the town right for having speed limit drop like that! There should be a law against such behaviour!

I used to have to drive thru a town like that..2MPH over the limit and you got a ticket. Plus, If the local police didn't recognise your car, they would follow you all the way through town. They did that to me a couple of times and talk about nervous. I was so used to going no less than 5MPH over the limit. Even had a cop pass me once because I was only going a couple over.
Ya stirred up some memories for some of us for sure.
Mine is up btw

Yes, our town police are notorious for catching people who are just passing thru...(the out-of towners). LOL

The things you learn. Love the picture. By the way our hydrants are also red in Switzerland although sometimes they are painted up with faces to look like people.

That is such a cute story, Lil... I wonder if the speeding ticket count went down once the place got popular. I love that hometown appeal of your photo.

Thanks for sharing that and for the nice comment on my entry (http://oarafn1.multiply.com/journal/item/24) Have a wonderful weekend ahead and see you next time.

I'll try to alert the police that we are trying to go to many places around the world in such a small amount of time... I'll see what they can do at keeping the ticket count down for Picture Perfect friends, but they may want to see your photo... LOL... So little time... So many places... lilangelwolf

Whoa! You've got a double red going on there! There's the red brick and the red sign! Is that a good place to eat? I love the name! They should have painted the doors and trim bright "Arrest-Me-Red!"! That would REALLY make it stand out. The cop car on the roof is really a super touch! What was all the fuss about? What were people saying? Were they ashamed of living in a town known as a speed trap? There are lots of little towns like that - but to go from 50 mph to 25 is a bit extreme. I suppose the police have quotas to make too. Police departments always deny they have quotas, but they all do. Years ago in San Francisco the traffic police were suppose to make 2.5 tickets an hour - they deny it of course, but if you know one of the cops, they'll tell you it's true.

Great display of "RED"!
Take good care!

There's actually a warning and people still get caught, huh? lol Cool idea for the theme, interesting, good pic and informal. Thanks for stopping by mine!

Lol...great picture and post. Love the story behind it, I'll definitely be on the lookout if I find myself in your town.

Thanks for the comment on mine. About the wolves - I do love wolves, they somehow seem to be a fit for me, as I can be a loner at times. Anyway, have a great Sunday and thanks for stopping by.

It even has a police car on top, hahahha. Thanks for sharing this unique story. Your town must be something, eh?
serenole wrote on Feb 18
Too funny! What a great idea for the theme, too!
We have a few of those "speed trap" places around these parts, also. They have to make money somehow!! lol

Thanks for stopping by my place... that room is my upstairs bath. At night that red light is especially nice...don't have to turn on the overheads! :)
landislb wrote on Feb 18
Fun picture, Lil! We pass through a small 'village' right down the street that is always on the lookout for speeders!!
